In the 1996 children's film, based on Roald Dahl's book Matilda, Mara played the lead character of Matilda while Kiami played her best friend Lavender. The film achieved huge success worldwide and brought in $33.45 million at the time of its original box office run.

Both Mara and Kiami have since stepped away from the limelight and a career in acting.

Kiami had a recurring role on In The House with LL Cool J but has since moved on to pursue a career in writing and singing.

Meanwhile Mara last acted in Thomas and the Magic Railroad in 2000 and has discussed her decision to quit the film industry on her official website, explaining that she was no longer passionate about acting.

"The short answer is no, I don't have any plans to pursue film acting. It's not my 'thing' anymore, if it ever was. Yes, I do still act sometimes," she wrote.

"But when I do, it's with people I know and trust, people who respect me as a person and appreciate what I have to offer.

"Yes I love working in theatre and have always loved voice-over, but pursuing a full-time live-action film career does not appeal to me."

The Matilda cast, including Mara and Kiami alongside Danny DeVito, Pam Ferris and Rhea Perlman previously reunited in 2013. The former co-stars looked excited to be back together again in a photo Mara posted on Facebook.
