Dakota Johnson wore black for the world premiere but it was all white on the night of the UK premiere for her hotly anticipated film, Fifty Shades of Grey. The 25-year-old actress, who stars in the erotic drama and has been receiving rave reviews for her performance, couldn't keep the smile off her face as she walked the red carpet with her co-star Jamie Dornan.

Wearing a striking off-white gown with a deep plunging neckline with sequined detailing around the hem, Dakota accessorised with a metallic clutch and a deep plum lip colour.

Co-star Jamie, who arrived with his wife Amelia Warner, looked handsome in a smart suit with a polka dot tie. Jamie - who wore a bushy beard, a stark difference to his character Christian Grey - kept a close hand on his wife throughout the evening.

Sam Taylor-Johnson, who has been praised for her adaptation of the bestselling book, also graced the red carpet, and was joined by her husband Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The British author of the book EL James, was also at the premiere.

The books, which were originally written as fanfiction for another worldwide phenomenon, Twilight, have sold 70 million copies worldwide - and the film is set to be one of the biggest movie releases of 2015.

Fifty Shades of Grey premiered at the Berlinale Film Festival on Wednesday night, where Dakota stunned in an appropriately risqué Christian Dior gown which also featured a deep neckline, while Jamie wore a deep blue bowtie and matching pocket square.

Speaking at the premiere, Jamie revealed he was surprised by the huge crowds who had gathered: "We knew how many people read the books, we were ready for this in a way. But this is mad," he said.

Dakota, meanwhile, told reporters she has no "expectations" but hopes that people enjoy the film. "This is so crazy," she said. "I'm just trying to be cool. My expectations? I don't have any. I just really hope they like the movie."
