Holby City star Jules Knight has decided to leave the medical drama to release his first solo album. The actor, who set pulses racing on the show as handsome Dr Harry Tressler, now wants to focus his attention on his music career, with his debut record Change of Heart due out in April. Jules has a musical background; he was a former member of the harmony group Blake. He left the group in January 2013 to join Holby, but is now ready to make music again.

Jules Knight is leaving Holby City to concentrate on his music career

"I loved playing Harry on Holby and have had fun there with the cast," Jules told the Mirror. "Variety is the spice of life, however, and I like to keep moving and keep challenging myself with new and exciting projects." The 33-year-old added, "I have certainly missed singing. It's been a huge part of my life since I was seven-years-old, so I can only go so long without music in my life. "In many ways making a solo album is a totally natural progression for me and has been a long time coming. This solo album is the next chapter for me and I'm really excited about it. And I hope my Holby fans will enjoy it too."

Jules has played Dr Harry Tressler since May 2013

Jules is set to head into the recording studio next week. He revealed that his upcoming album will be a "collection of new and old songs" that "span a wide range of musical genres", adding: "The album is for anyone who has an all-embracing passion for music". Jules, who attended St Andrews University with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, first appeared on Holby in May 2013, four months after being told he had the part. He will leave the show exactly two years on, this May, in an exciting storyline that will leave Dr Tressler "unrecognisable".
