Ed Sheeran is making a move from music to movies. The 24-year-old singer has reportedly agreed to a role in an upcoming Bollywood film, according to the Sun. Ed recently attended a party at the home of Happy New Year actor Abhishek Bachchan, following his gig in Mumbai on Sunday. Farah Khan, who directed the 2014 action-heist comedy – one of the most expensive films made in Bollywood – invited Ed to the party. "It was a surprise when my cousin Zubin called me from London to say that Ed Sheeran was going to be in town and wanted to meet up with me and my Bollywood friends," the 50-year-old filmmaker said.

"It was very gracious of Abhishek to let me bring Ed to his home. Not only did Ed hit it off with Abhishek, but before I left they both also decided that Ed would act in Happy New Year 2.” While Ed has worked on a number of soundtracks before, including The Hobbit, this will be his acting debut. The British singer is riding high at the moment. He was a big winner at the Brits, walking away with two of the four awards he was nominated for. Ed was named best British solo artist and also took home the highly-coveted prize for best album for X. "I didn't expect it… It's been a very good year for British music," he humbly said as he collected his second trophy.

In the next week, Ed will perform in Shanghai, Seoul, Hong Kong, The Philippines and Singapore, before heading Down Under to Australia, with an opening concert in Brisbane on 20 March. In July, he will take to the stage at London's Wembley Stadium. "I've made no secret recently of my ambition to play Wembley Stadium on my own in front of 80,000 people," Ed said as the dates were confirmed. "So I'm absolutely over the moon to be able to announce it's going to happen next summer. It's going to be amazing. I just can't wait."
