Ant and Dec enjoy rare double date with partners at TV BAFTAs

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were joined by their partners for a rare double date at the TV BAFTAs on Sunday evening. The double act were supported at the star-studded awards by their "better halves" and couldn't have looked happier as they all posed together on the red carpet outside London's Theatre Royal.Ant, 39, was joined by his wife of eight years, Lisa Armstrong, who was dressed to impress in a black cocktail dress that featured cut-out detailing. Dec's fiancée Ali Astall, meanwhile, chose a sophisticated full-length Max Mara black gown. The two ladies perfectly complemented their partners, who were dressed smartly in matching tuxedos.

It was a big night for Ant and Dec, who picked up two prizes at the ceremony for the second year in a row. The duo won the Best Entertainment Show and Best Entertainment Performance for Saturday Night Takeaway."Thank you very much! What a great start to the show… for us!" Ant said as they arrived on stage to receive the first award.During their second acceptance speech, the TV star gave a shout-out to Lisa and Ali. "We love doing the shows, long may it continue," Ant said. "This is amazing, thanks girls, thanks very much for your support and love."

Ant and Dec were the only multiple winners on the night – but there were plenty of stand-out moments. ITV's Coronation Street won the Battle of the Soaps, in the same year that it celebrated its 60th anniversary. Producer Stuart Blackburn dedicated the award to his "friend and colleague" Anne Kirkbride, who passed away in January after 42 years playing Deirdre Barlow.Sherlock won the Radio Times Audience Award, beating the likes of Strictly Come Dancing, Game of Thrones, and The Great British Bake Off. Its star, Benedict Cumberbatch, who missed the ceremony to take care of his pregnant wife Sophie Hunter, lost out on the Best Actor award though.

Best Actress winner Georgina Campbell

That prize went to Jason Watkins for his role in The Lost Honour of Christopher Jeffries, with the real-life drama also receiving the award for Best Mini-Series.The Best Actress trophy went to newcomer Georgina Campbell for her powerful portrayal of a domestic abuse victim in Murdered By My Boyfriend.One of the night's other big winners was Marvellous – an BBC2 show which told the story of Neil Baldwin, a man with learning difficulties who became the kit man at Stoke City Football Club. It won the Best Single Drama award, while 72-year-old Gemma Jones, who played Neil's mother, won Best Supporting Actress.

BBC One's Happy Valley won Best Drama, while the Comedy Actor prizes went to Toast of London's Matt Berry and Jessica Hynes for W1A. To great applause, Jessica told the audience: "I'm from a single parent family. I'm really worried about the cuts that are coming in state education and to people in low income families, because I don't feel low income means low talent, low imagination or low intelligence. "The ceremony's host Graham Norton received a BAFTA of his own, for Best Comedy Entertainment Programme, while Lifetime Achievement Awards went to newscaster Jon Snow, screenwriter Jeff Pope and Clive James.
