Lily-Rose Depp looks set to follow in the footsteps of her father Johnny Depp after landing another major film role. The 16-year-old will play the role of Isadora Duncan in upcoming movie The Dancer, due for release in 2016.

The film, directed by Stephanie Di Guosto, centres on performer Loie Fuller – played by French singer-turned-actress Soko – and her relationship with Isadora, who is often credited as the pioneer of modern dance. Filming is set to begin before the end of the year.

Lily-Rose has had an incredible year so far, which has seen her make her modelling debut for Australian magazine Oyster and land her first fashion campaign as the face of Chanel's Pearl eyewear range.

Showing the same ethereal beauty as her mother Vanessa Paradis, who is counted as one of Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld's muses, it comes as no surprise that Lily-Rose has been snapped up by the French fashion house.

"Lily-Rose is stunning," said Karl in a statement confirming the news in July. "She's a young girl from a new generation with all the qualities of a star."

At the same time, Lily-Rose's acting career has taken off and in May it was confirmed that she will appear opposite Natalie Portman in the upcoming thriller Planetarium. The thriller will be set in the 1930s and see Natalie and Lily play spiritual sisters who are "believed to possess the supernatural ability to connect with ghosts".

Lily Rose has previously appeared on screen in Yoga Hosers in 2014, her first major movie role which also starred her father Johnny. The Depps were both cast in Kevin Smith's comic book movie – a follow up to his film Tusk – which Lily-Rose also had a small role in.
