Since their unforgettable performance as on-screen couple Rose and Jack in Titanic, Kate Winlset and Leonardo DiCaprio have remained good friends. The Hollywood pals often sing each other's praises, with the actress most recently expressing just how much she would love to see her friend win his first Oscar, saying: "It would just be amazing."

An Oscars win is much anticipated for Leonardo who has been nominated for best actor for his performance in brutal revenge thriller The Revenant.

Kate thinks this is Leonardo's year to win an Oscar

Even with no Oscars under his belt, Revolutionary Road co-star Kate thinks that this year's award is Leonardo's. "I do think it probably will be [him]," the Labor Day actress said when she was interviewed by the BBC at the London Critics' Circle Film Awards on Sunday.

"I think you can sort of feel it and I think that everyone wants it for him." She added: "It would just be amazing."

Although Kate is good friends with Leonardo, who reportedly walked her down the aisle at her wedding in 2012, she also revealed she wasn't only rooting for him.

"Michael Fassbender has been nominated and, of course, I was his right-hand woman for three months while we were making Steve Jobs and I saw how hard he worked and I think his performance is so extraordinary. But I think that, you know, you can sort of feel the temperature – it's probably going to be Leo's year," she said.

It seems the feeling is mutual when it comes to appreciating each other's work. The Inception actor showed similar support for Kate at this year's Golden Globes, where they pair took home awards for best actor and best supporting actress, when he shared a congratulatory moment.

"She's my favourite actress in the industry," he told Entertainment Tonight.
