Emma Stone's winning streak continued at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night. The 28-year-old took home the best actress trophy for her role in La La Land - and was in total disbelief as her name was read out.
Holding her head in her hands at the podium, Emma admitted she thought she was going to faint as she collected her award from friend Jonah Hill. She praised her fellow nominees – Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Natalie Portman and Meryl Streep – saying: "You are the greatest and your talent and intelligence are mind-blowing." She also honoured her co-star Ryan Gosling: "Ryan, you're the best. That's just the truth."

While many had predicted Emma's SAG success, the 2017 ceremony did include some surprises. Denzel Washington beat front runner Casey Affleck to take home the best actor trophy on the night. The 62-year-old was honoured for his role as Troy Maxson in Fences, and during his speech expressed surprise that he had been chosen ahead of the Manchester by the Sea star, who won at the Golden Globes earlier this month,
"I'm a God-fearing man — I'm supposed to have faith, and I didn't have faith," the Training Day star told the crowd. "I said, 'You know that young boy's gonna win, Denzel — you ain't gonna win.'"

The TV categories also produced some unexpected winners. Stranger Things emerged victorious as best ensemble in a drama, despite fierce competition from the likes of Downton Abbey, Westworld, Game of Thrones and The Crown – although the latter picked up wins for Claire Foy and John Lithgow. And Bryan Cranston won best actor in a miniseries or TV movie for All The Way, beating out The People v O.J Simpson's Sterling K Brown and Courtney B Vance, who both won Emmys for their performances.

The final category of the night, meanwhile, saw Hidden Figures named best film over Moonlight, Manchester by the Sea and Fences, all three of which are expected to win big at the Oscars next month.
