Cheryl was left amused after watching Gareth Gates' hilarious impression of her as he took part in a special Girls Aloud tribute act on Saturday night. Teaming up with Blue singer Duncan James, Ritchie Neville from 5ive, S Club 7's Jon Lee and Ben Ofoedu from Phats & Small, the former Pop Idol star nailed his performance as Cheryl with aplomb. The male stars dazzled viewers as Boys Allowed whilst singing Biology on BBC1 show Let's Sing and Dance for Comic Relief. Following the lively routine, Cheryl gave Gareth her nod of approval. "Brilliant," she simply wrote alongside a laughing emoji.

Fellow bandmate Nadine Coyle was also impressed by Duncan's interpretation of her. She tweeted: "I may need that wig when you are done." Elsewhere, Kimberley Walsh shared her astonishment: "OMG did that just happen ??? #LetsSingAndDance well done boys! Only for Comic Relief!" Unfortunately, Boys Allowed failed to sail through the public vote, with The Chasers' performance of Wizard of Oz, and stars of Holby City and Casualty winning a place in the final.

Speaking ahead of the performance, Kimberley revealed she was delighted to see the group come together to sing one of their hit songs. In her HELLO! blog, she wrote: "I always love it when Comic Relief comes round, it's such a worthy cause but also provides a lot of entertainment and so many people get involved." She added: "This year they are having different comedians and singers performing well known songs and dance routines. I couldn't believe it when I read they had a group doing Girls Aloud's Biology, the thing that is going to make this hilarious is that the group is made up of pop boys from the past doing it and they're calling themselves Boys Allowed.

"Comic Relief actually called me to ask me to help them, I'm not going to give anything away as you have to tune in! I can't wait to watch their performance on the night, especially as they're going to be doing Biology with the routine in full on costume and heels. I think it's one of our most recognisable videos and it's the song that really changed everything for us so I hope they do us proud!" Red Nose Day returns on Friday 24th March 2017.
