Screenwriter Daisy Goodwin has opened up about recasting Jenna Coleman in the hit ITV show Victoria, revealing that there's a "long way to go" before the Doctor Who star will be recast for an older actress. Chatting at the BFI & Radio Times Festival, Daisy said: "I think we've got quite a long way to go before we need to recast Jenna; we're moving quite slowly through the 1840s. We haven't even caught up with her real age, so I think Jenna will be on our screens for some time to come."

There are no plans to recast Jenna at the moment

Jenna has also spoken about the role, explaining: "We're doing season two and then it's a question of where we go from there. There's no shortage of story. You don't want to go through it too quickly. There are nine children to have, so there is a long way to go. People know certain things about her but the first three years of her reign haven't been told before on screen. It's quite modern as well. It's about a young girl who had a huge personality and was surrounded by people who expected her to fail."

Jenna opened up about her role

She added: "She was the most powerful woman in the world at 18 years of age when women didn't even have the vote. It's got huge appeal on top of it being a true story and a great love story - and what they've achieved, capturing the Victorian era with beautiful set designs and costumes, has been fantastic." Jenna recently gave fans a sneak peek into the second series of the hit period drama. Dressed in full costume as the Queen accompanied with a pair of sunglasses, she wrote: "Back to work #trailerlife @miumiu @victoriaseries."
