Ferne McCann has given her first interview since her ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins was arrested, and her first pregnancy was revealed. The 26-year-old sat down on the This Morning sofa to speak to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, and admitted she had found herself in a "stressful, surreal situation". Ferne became emotional as she opened up about recent weeks, in which she discovered she was expecting her first child, and also saw Arthur arrested in connection with a horrific nightclub acid attack. "It's been such a stressful, surreal situation to be in. But I'm actually feeling good and positive. Because I'm pregnant, I think that has given me strength and hope to get through this," Ferne told her hosts.

Ferne McCann had to be comforted by Holly Willoughby during her emotional appearance on This Morning

She later admitted: "This isn't how I imagined my first pregnancy to be. It's not about what happened. It is about this baby." With tears in her eyes, Ferne added: "My main… I'm going to be strong, I'm going to try and keep it together. I really don't want to cry. My main concern and priority is the baby."

The former TOWIE star also spoke about the outpouring of support she had received from the public. "Reading through the private messages on Instagram has been so touching and so humbling," she said. "That's what I'm so grateful for because everyone's words, from single mothers to single fathers, to people that have followed my career, to people that have never even seen me on TV, everyone has been - sorry, I need to get myself together - so supportive and I think that’s what gets me the most when people's kindness has just been lovely."

The 26-year-old vowed to be "the best possible mum I can be"

Ferne - who said she was "70 per cent" sure she would not find out the baby's sex before the birth – was told by Holly that there was "no doubt" she'd be an "incredible mum". She replied: "I love a challenge, as you know. I think this is going to be the biggest one to date. But I'm so looking forward to it. I can't wait to meet my baby, the future for me, I'm not going to say it's going to be easy. But I'm excited and I just want to be the best possible mum I can be."
