When it comes to British sitcoms, Blackadderis often thought of as one of the best. The series, written by famed script writers Richard Curtis and Ben Elton, ran for six years throughout the 80s, produced four series, and cemented itself as a classic.
Blackadder featured many stars that have gone on to become household names on British TV and beyond. With actors including Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Laurie, the show was laced with talent. But what are they up to today? We found out…
Blackadder was one of Rowan Atkinson's major TV roles and it's safe to say it sparked a successful career. Rowan played the titular role, who was an ancestor within the Blackadder family dynasty for each series, starting from the fifteenth century up until the end of the First World War.
After the comedy, Rowan went on to appear in other popular shows and films including The Lion King, Love Actually, and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Rowan's most recent role was in 2018, when he reprised his part in the Johnny English franchise for Johnny English Strikes Again.
Tony Robinson played the part of Blackadder's sidekick Baldrick for the show's entirety. After his role in the sitcom, Tony went on to land other roles in the theatre, but has since become known for his presenting work and voiceover talents.
As well as acting, Stephen is known for presenting QI and being the author of numerous books including seven novels and three autobiographies. His most recent acting parts came in an episode for Doctor Who in 2020 and in the upcoming series It's A Sin, due out next year.

Fresh out of Footlights, Hugh Laurie joined comedy partner Stephen to appear in Blackadder, playing the roles of both The Prince Regent and as Lieutenant George.
Hugh has also gone on to carve a successful acting career, having appeared in shows like House and Stuart Little, but most recently he played the lead part in 2020 BBC drama Roadkill.
Tim McInnerny played Lord Percy Percy and Captain Kevin Darling in Blackadder, both known for their dim-witted nature. Since then, Tim has starred in a number of films including Notting Hill, 101 Dalmatians and Johnny English Reborn. Most recently, he's appeared in Game of Thrones and 2019 film The Aeronauts.
Miranda Richardson only appeared in series two of the show, but her role as Queen Elizabeth I sticks out to fans of the show. Since appearing in Blackadder, Miranda has enjoyed huge success as an actor.
In 1992, she was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Damage and has also been nominated for the prestigious Olivier Award. Her most recent work comes in the form of Madame Tracy in Good Omens in 2019, as well as upcoming film Chicken Run 2.
