||Theatre, rather than cinema, was Jude's first love. His early 20s were spent treading the boards in a series of stage productions. After touring Italy with a part in Pygmalion, the budding thesp made his London debut in The Fastest Clock In The Universe.
But it was a 1995 staging of Jean Cocteau's Indiscretions that really caught the public's attention. The young actor received a Tony nomination for his work on the play, while Vanity Fair noted that his nude scene "caused an increase in the usage of opera glasses".
With his rare combination of looks, talent and charisma, it was perhaps inevitable that the budding performer caught the movie industry’s eye. Jude made his big screen debut in the joyriding drama Shopping in 1994, and while the movie received a frosty reception from the critics, the actor’s performance was given a thumbs up by most reviewers.
