Harrods opens new 'sanctuary of scent'

Harrods is the go-to destination for luxury beauty. And now, the department giant has gone one step further, having unveiled its Salon de Parfums. Located on the sixth floor in a typically opulent setting, the Salon de Parfums showcases the world's finest and rarest scents alongside bespoke perfume and personalisation services. Some of the brands in the fragrance haven include Dior, Chanel, Tom Ford, Xeroff and Guerlain.

And Clive Christian has created the world's most expensive perfume to celebrate Harrods' launch. The British perfurmer designed a limited edition of his No1 perfume with a staggering price tag of £143,000. A normal bottle of the fragrance costs £450 and is titled 'the world's most expensive perfume'.

But the new, special edition scent is packaged in a hand-crafted, 24 carat gold lattice, while the gold crown top is embedded with flawless white diamonds. The lion motif is made up of two yellow diamonds, with a rare pink diamond marking out the lion's tongue. "I was inspired to create an iconic bottle as precious as a crown jewel to mark this special event," said Clive Christian, OBE, on his website.

Talking about the opening of the Salon de Parfums, Mia Collins, Head of Beauty at Harrods, said: "The launch of the Salon de Parfums on the Sixth Floor is a landmark addition to Harrods' perfumery portfolio. "Visitors can enjoy a selection of the world's finest fragrance brands. A growing appreciation for fine fragrance and a greater interest in individuality inspired us to develop a unique perfumery concept."
