SS16 beauty trend: sporty skin

Share this:

We went behind-the-scenes at London Fashion Week on over 30 shows for a sneak preview into the biggest beauty trends for SS16. One trend that was touched on for AW15 and according to many a beauty expert, is even bigger news for the season ahead, is ‘sporty skin’. When one of those experts is make-up artist extraordinaire Val Garland you take note.

Sporty skin was a major beauty trend at London Fashion Week

Asking Val what her top tip for the season ahead was, she said "give your skin a workout - think glowing, almost slightly damp skin with a super dewy perfection".

At Julien Macdonald Val told us that she wanted the models to look like they took care of themselves, "they go to the gym - with tight, taut skin", whilst at Anya Hindmarch, she was giving an "athletic skin finish" to the girls.

At David Koma, Andrew Gallimore, Nars UK Make-up Artist Ambassador, told us: "The look is that of a kickboxing, ballet dancer on holiday. She is more black belt than black swan, so fresh, plump, dewy complexions are essential".

A healthy glow is key to this look

Even tans were taking on the fitness finish - Jules Heptonstall, St Tropez Tanning Expert gave models at Preen ‘The Post Workout Selfie” tan for skin that sported an after-gym glow.

For the face: We spied the new skin perfecting MAC Studio Waterweight Foundation being used at over 10 shows this season, whilst Val touted it as one of her backstage heroes for a healthy glow.

For the body: Jules Hepstonstall’s backstage essential for this look was the St Tropez Instant Tan Lotion in Light/Medium mixed with a moisturiser and patted on (not rubbed in) with a mitt.
