The always-chic actress Kate Winslet showcased an elaborate plaited up-do on the red carpet at last night’s London premiere of Steve Jobs, a biopic of the Apple founder.

Kate Winslet turned heads with her plaited hairstyle during the London Film Festival

Proving that plaits don’t have age limits anymore, the 40-year-old had us lusting after her grown-up braided bun. With all hair off her face, it allowed even more attention to fall to her super luminous skin, subtle smokey eyes and elegant one-shouldered navy Alexander McQueen gown.

Great for party season, it’s surprisingly easy to recreate yourself at home and works on all hair lengths. Here’s how to get the look in four simple steps:

Kate's look can be created in four easy steps

Step 1: Start by washing your hair with the Redken Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-Free Shampoo, £13.65 and Conditioner, £14.90, to combat dryness and give a sleeker finish to the hairstyle.

Step 2: Prep damp hair before blow drying to give it hold and texture; we love the new H&M Fibre Mousse, £6.99. It bulks up finer hair and gives it better grip for styling.

Step 3: Once completely dry, comb your hair into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic. If your hair is shorter or fine then cheat long, thick hair with the Hershesons Invisible Ponytail, £60, it clips in over your own hair.

Step 4: Plait the ponytail and then twist round into a knot and secure in place with grips. Finish with ghd Final Shine Spray, £10 for that red carpet glossiness.
