Talking about the glamorous and glossy images we see of celebrities on the red carpet or at photoshoots, Blake told Refinery29: "What little girls are seeing isn't what [these celebrities] look like when they wake up in the morning — even though it's no less beautiful."

The L'Oreal ambassador also admitted that while she is grateful to have make-up artists and stylists on hand to get her camera-ready, she doesn't want her daughters to grow up believing that is the norm. "There's this awareness of what they're going to be exposed to and what they grow up seeing. For me, it's important for my daughters to know that it's not real life," she said. "They're seeing me dressed up in all this hair and makeup, but they also see me without that. I want them to see both sides, because there is never just one side."

Blake has been vocal about the beauty pressures put on women, and shared a number of candid social media posts to show the team of make-up artists and hairstylists who help her to get ready for awards shows and high profile events. In one recent post she wrote: "Thank you @lorealmakeup @kristoferbuckle @rodortega4hair @lorealhair for making me look like I slept more than 2 hours last night. #breastfeedingmama."

The 29-year-old also participated in a recent Women's March protest, telling her 14.3 million Instagram followers that it was on behalf of "my daughters, for my friends, for strangers, for myself". Blake added: "My march wasn't driven by hate. It was rooted in a very simple fact – we are all equal. I believe everyone can agree on that. Thank you to everyone who marched all over the world. I felt so hopeful and deeply grateful."
