Lily waves goodbye to straight hair

Get the Rita Hayworth look

The Smile singer has recently debuted roller-set waves reminiscent of the Forties

Two great style leaders have been working the Rita Hayworth look recently, with both Lily Allen and Kate Moss debuting roller-set waves reminiscent of the Forties – styled with clothes that are bang up to date.

It's a beautiful look that's immediately glamorous and sexy, softening the face and making hair look thick and voluptuous – and it's so easy to recreate. Make sure you use some kind of styling product on washed hair – mousse, spray, gel or, best of all, setting lotion (try Tesco Extra Firm Hold Setting Lotion, 89p) to give the hold necessary to stop the waves dropping out during the day.

Then dry hair straight for smoothness and wind large sections over large heated rollers, twisting twice from the bottom to the middle then continuing to roll straight up to the scalp, before pinning in to place and leaving to cool. Brush through with a paddle brush and spritz with flexible hold hairspray.
