Kate Middleton, David Beckham and Cheryl Cole top hairstyle icons poll

Kate Middleton, David Beckham and Cheryl Cole are some of the top celebrity names used for hairstyle inspiration. The survey, conducted by Salon Services, revealed that the trio's classic locks have topped the charts, although the tresses of some other pop sensations have also made the cut. According to the results, Cheryl comes out on top, with an impressive 29 percent of salon customers requesting to mimic the look of the pop princess.

Unsurprisingly, the Duchess of Cambridge took second place in the poll, with 26 percent of the population desiring to mimic Kate's sleek brunette curls. David topped the male salon stakes in the UK, with 53 percent of salon owners citing the footballer as the number one celebrity inspiration for their male customers for the second year running. TOWIE's Mark Wright also leads the men's hair masses, with 20 percent of salon-goers desiring his cut. The likes of pop star sensations Justin Bieber and Harry Styles have also made it into the poll, with 13 percent and five percent of the vote respectively.Jennifer Aniston has also unsurprisingly made it into the top hairstyle stakes. While customers across the 90s begged salons to give them 'a Rachel', Jennifer’s post-Friends locks have still continued to wow the crowd.

Pre-head shave for Comic Relief, Jessie J also secured three percent of the vote with her steely black bob.
