Sarah Hyland first debuted a new auburn hairstyle

Having rocked brunette tresses in recent months, the actress surprised her 3.5 million Instagram followers when she revealed she had decided to become a redhead, posting a gorgeous selfie with her glossy hair worn down in a sleek blow-dry hairstyle. "Ginger Spice," she simply captioned the snap.

However, her drastic makeover was short-lived. Just a few days later, Sarah admitted that the ginger hues had been a stepping stone to her going back to blonde as she prepares to reprise her role as Haley Dunphy in the upcoming series of Modern Family.

Sarah then went blonde ahead of filming Modern Family

Posting a quirky selfie in which she pulled a funny face for her followers, she confessed that she might be tempted to go back to auburn hair in the future.

"Haha! Gotch ya!" she captioned the snap. "Back to a bronde for #modernfamily (the red hair was the process in to this and a happy surprise that I may want to go back to)."

The American beauty is no stranger to experimenting with her look. Just a few days after wrapping up the filming of the last series of Modern Family, Sarah took the opportunity to go for a makeover and debut a gorgeous dark chocolate brown shade.

It wasn't the only change that Sarah made, with the star also having had a few inches chopped off her trademark shoulder-length hair into a chic short bob.

"Hello from the darker side," she quipped in the caption, referencing singer Adele's hit Hello as she flaunted her new 'do with a selfie.
