The fancy-sounding word 'pediluvium' is taken from the Latin where it simply means footbath.
Now though, it's used to refer to a marvellous spa therapy technique that is both relaxing and invigorating and can leave your legs and feet feeling like new.
It's a therapy that's rapidly becoming an essential element of any spa circuit, and if you have problems with circulation in your legs, you may find it's just the thing you need.
The treatment consists of a stone channel with a system of water jets set into the sides. The jets vary in pressure, and alternate with hot and cold water. The surface of the channel floor is made of rounded pebbles, which means the soles of your feet are stimulated as you walk along the uneven surface. This effect combines with the varying pressure and temperature of the water on legs and feet to prevent, relieve and improve circulation problems.
What's more, triggering the energy points on the soles of the feet has an invigorating effect on the rest of the body and reduces fatigue. Which can't be bad, can it?
