Ferne McCann has said body-shaming should be made illegal during an appearance on This Morning. Reflecting on her own experience with online trolls, the TV star told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: "My weight fluctuates and I put weight on last year when I broke my ankle, and I stepped out wearing a silver dress and people weren't very kind. "I always say that I'm not going to let the comments get to me, but they do. It hurts. There is a lot of pressure to look good. We need to embrace being positive and be confident with our bodies. Obviously health is important.

"I'm 25 and I'm already feeling the pressure and it's not right. We need to think about our children and our children's children. "Ferne also defended her former TOWIE co-star Lucy Mecklenburg, who she said regularly gets abuse from social media users. "My friend Lucy works incredibly hard for her body," she said. "She's seen to have the perfect size 8 body – who says size 8 is perfect anyways? – and she's still getting body-shamed. "This is something I feel passionately about. I think it should be made illegal," she continued. "Absolutely. They are sitting behind their keyboards. They don't know what that person – celebrity or not – has woken up to that morning."

The trio were joined by some plus-sized models on the show

Holly, Phillip and Ferne were joined on the show by some plus-sized women dressed in swimwear, who came in to speak about being body-confident and proud.

Addressing the models, Ferne said: "Social media is completely littered with the perfect way to look. We are obsessed with how a woman should look, and I think you girls coming out and being brave and proud of how you look is positive."
