Jessica Knowles is continuing to raise awareness for cervical cancer, this time taking on the role as ambassador for Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust, a UK charity dedicated to women affected by cervical cancer and abnormalities. The 28-year-old, who beat the cancer earlier this year, revealed that she chose to work with the charity following the support they offered her when she was first diagnosed with the disease.

"Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust was an absolutely lifeline for me during my diagnosis," she explained in a statement. "They were a crucial and comforting support to me in my time of need and continue to be so.

"They provide a wealth of information via their website, in particular their forum where many of my questions and concerns were answered by incredible women who were far braver than me."

Jessica, who has a two-year-old son named Eddie, explained that she hopes her new role will allow her to raise "further awareness" and help women in the future.

"By becoming an Ambassador for the charity and sharing my story, I hope I can help raise further awareness of the disease and ensure more women know the symptoms to look out for," she said.

Jessica first revealed that she had been diagnosed with the condition on her HELLO! Online blog, writing: "After a brief period of being unwell I was unfortunately diagnosed, this week, with cervical cancer."

She went on to explain to her fans that she would be taking a "break" from social media in order to focus on her recovery, and her son Eddie.

She has previously spoken candidly about her experience

"I am going to use this time to focus solely on my health," she wrote. "And use all spare energy to make sure Eddie's home life remains as happy and normal as positive."

After undergoing treatment, a few weeks later Jessica was able to share the happy news that she had beaten the disease. Since then, the British beauty has been speaking candidly about her experience including what the treatment itself entails.

During an appearance on This Morning, she also opened up about the support she had received from estranged husband Nick Knowles and how they had worked through those difficult few months as a newly separated couple.

"We were so fortunate that Nick's work were really understanding," she told hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes. "So Nick was able to be at home with Eddie and give him a normal, happy home life whilst all this was going on."
