There are plenty of famous women who treasure their equally famous female friends – Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton, Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox-Arquette, Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria Parker. And because female friends are so important, The Body Shop has decided to launch a special-edition beauty treat that also helps out women in need - in the hope that female friends can make a difference.
For You, For Me, £7, is a lip care duo made with shea butter from the Tungteiya Women's Shea Butter Association in Ghana. It moisturises and softens lips and also contains vitamins A, C and E to protect. The aim of the duo is that you tear off one half of the pack to give to a friend, as part of a campaign to highlight the importance of friendship in The Body Shop's Stop Violence In The Home work this year.
Research by The Body Shop highlights the value of female friendship, as 59 per cent of women, if affected by domestic violence, would confide in a friend compared to 21 per cent who'd go to the police and only 14 per cent who'd turn to a support group. The campaign, which aims to educate women so they can provide practical help and support for those in need, will be supported by in-store leaflets and the www.stopviolenceinthehome.com website. All proceeds from the lip care duo will go to Women's Aid – and will benefit women in Ghana, too.
