Hot new singing sensation Lady GaGa likes to keep her make-up natural while still making a statement with her eyes

She may have just vacated the number-one slot with Just Dance for Lily Allen's Fear, but Lady GaGa is still making waves as the newest bright young thing to hit the charts here.

But for all her outrageous outfits and hairstyles – she likes to wear skin-tight PVC and shape her hair into a large bow - the young American keeps her make-up surprisingly demure.

Bourjois makeup artist Cassie Lomas has been working with Lady GaGa since she came to the UK and explained the concept behind her look: "Exactly because of her striking clothes and hairstyle, Lady GaGa likes to keep her makeup nude so there's some balance to her look, and works a classic 60s vibe with pale colours that almost blend into the skin.

"That's why I start with a clean, matte base, such as Brush Foundation, £11.73, contouring the cheeks with a bronzer that defines her bone structure without adding too much colour – try Delice De Poudre Bronzer, £6.84.

"Lady GaGa likes to make an impact with her eyes, but still downplaying the colour, so I use neutral smoky browns on the lids from Eyeshadow Trio in Le Naturels, £6.35, with a layer of heavy, liquid black eyeliner and finishing with Volume Glamour Ultra Curl Mascara, £7.82 – it lifts and curls the lashes without an eyelash curler so they blend in perfectly with the false eyelashes I add on top to really make the eyes stand out.

"Finally, she really likes her lips to blend into her skin colour with a true nude lipstick – Sweet Kiss with its satin finish in Beige Elegant is spot on."
