The eyes of the world are on royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton in the run up to her big day on April 29 - and the perfectly goomed brunette hasn't put a foot wrong in the beauty stakes. This week, she wowed the crowds in Northern Ireland - and here, celebrity makeup artist Alice Theobald tells hellomagazine.com how to recreate the look...
"To achieve Kate's flawless, silky skin I suggest starting with the Meteorites Light-Diffusing Perfecting Primer to give a matte, even finish to the face," reccommends Alice. "Then apply La Prairie Skin Caviar foundation over the base, before blitzing any imperfections with Secret Camoflauge Concealer by Laura Mercier.
"Now highlight the cheeks and under the brow using Girl Meets Pearl by Benefit. This creates a gorgeous, luminous look worthy of a Princess-in-waiting!"
For the cheeks, Alice suggests choosing a cream blusher – but make sure you put this on before you've applied any loose powder. "I love the Portofino multiple stick by NARS," she tells us. "Smile, apply it to the apple of the cheeks, and blend it out while the foundation is still creamy. This will give a flawless finish to the makeup base.
"Then, working from the top of the face downwards so as not to smudge anything, as ever, let's concentrate on the brows. They're key to this look, and a trend that Kate is influencing at the moment is for a lighter brow. It's important they don't look unruly and are groomed to perfection, so it's essential to use a good brow brush.
"I've chosen to use Laura Mercier Brow Powder Duo - the darker shade suits Kate best. Once you've applied it, take another brush – I love the Chanel number 11 brush for this – spray it with a spritz of hairspray, and comb through the brows to set them in place."
Next up? Eyeshadow. "Again, it's all about a creamy finish," says Alice. "Apply Shu Uemura cream eyeshadow in P Beige from the root of lashes to the eyebrows as a base for the eyeshadow. Next, use their P Brown shade in the socket of the eyes, and set the whole look with MAC Brun, sweeping it from the roots of the lashes to the socket. Add Vanilla – again by MAC – just underneath the eyebrow. It's important to blend it all together with a good eyeshadow blending brush to make it all come together beautifully.
"Then, use a gel eyeliner, applied with a very fine brush, to create a very, very fine line at the roots of the lashes, and, using Urban Decay 24/7 Oil Slick, fill in the inner rim of the lower lid. Finish the eyes with a black mascara."
Kate isn't wearing a gloss or a lipstick – it's more natural than that. "Prime the lips with a lip balm, and then add definition by using Sisley Phyto Levres Perfect Lipliner 4 Rose Passion. Finish off with Coral Sun lipstick by Yves Saint Laurent. And finally, choose a large powder brush and gently dust on the Chanel Soleil Tan in Terre Epice. Brush it over the forehead, nose and décolletage, and blend well. This is a bronzer, and works well because Kate has got quite an olive-tone to her skin already. You don't need anything too drastic - this isn't The Only Way Is Essex! It just gives a bit of a healthy glow," laughs Alice.
