Dior leads the way in 3D makeup with new sequinned lips

It's the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week so, of course, it's out with the ordinary and in with the new big, bold and fabulous makeup trend for 2013 that is all in 3D.

Whilst matte lips may be the thing of the moment this spring, Christian Dior has upped the mark, making the plump pouts of his lovely models all about texture.

The iconic French fashion house enlisted the help of artistic director Raf Simons and international makeup artist Pat McGrath to transform the traditional red lip with layer upon layer of glitter and sequins.

A British-born makeup artist known for her creative eccentricity, Pat previously lead the way for the 3D effect last year as she worked with Dior on their ready to wear spring/summer 2013 runway.

Creating a iridescent winged eye in her last show, this January Pat has turned her attention to bejewelled lips pared against sheer, dewy skin and simple eye makeup for a balanced effect that is all about the statement sparkle.

It's artwork on your lips, and we're sure it won't be long before the playful MAC Cosmetics provide wearable embellishments for the high street.

And for those who just can't get enough of being embossed, look to nail art, as this industry moves forwards away from just nail wraps and glitter galore to an exciting selection for textured talon. Go to Nails Inc for feather, leather or concrete designs and get ready for the beach with OPI's suave sandy collection.
