Kiera Knightley celebrated the premiere of her newest movie, Anna Karenina, in Los Angeles on Wednesday night by making a statement with the most purrfect of fierce, feline eye-liner.The 27-year-old showed off the precise, cat-like flicker of her make-up as she posed with director and friend, Joe Wright, with whom the actress had previously worked with in the making of Atonement and Pride & Prejudice.

With flawless skin and fluttering lashes Kiera's simple look was defined by the clear, bold line of eyeliner paired with a pop of pink lipstick that had a pearlescent shine to its finish. Meanwhile, in the UK, Twilight fans gathered in London's Leicester Square for the premiere of Breaking Dawn: Part 2. Star of the saga, Kristen Stewart, teamed her black lace Zuhair Murad jumpsuit with an equally seductive smokey eye, outlined in ebony liner. Peaches Geldof also wore her trademark feline flick whilst Olympian and Strictly star Victoria Pendleton highlighted her warm, blue eyes with a brush of kohl, defined at the edges. Bold, smudged or precise – eyeliner looks good in all its forms. Worn well it can enhance the shape of the eye to look bigger and more awake whilst creating a sultry shadow for that sizzling gaze.

To get the look, start simply with a base of eyeshadow primer followed by a nude base or a smokey palette, depending on how dramatic you want the look to be. Then trace the outline of both eyes – making sure you keep symmetry across the face – before filling in with the liquid. Products range from pencils, pens, liquid applicators and gels. The latter of these tend to be the most long-wearing but often require a steady hand to apply with an extra-fine tipped brush for a clean, fluid line. But for a quick, on-the-go job pens provide a fuss-free way of making sure you get the edge on drawing the perfect line.Be sure to balance out this graphic look with an otherwise bare face, but for a night out do pair your sassy cat eye with a bright red pout or pretty pink lip as seen by Peaches and Kiera.
