Emma Watson admitted she used to "hate" her eyebrows when growing up

"I used to hate that I had strong eyebrows," she said while interviewing Gloria Steinem in London as part of a special event held by the How To Academy. "As a nine-year-old I desperately wanted to pluck them and make them two thin lines."

Nowadays, Emma confessed she has "come to embrace these things", adding that her mother had spent years trying to convince her not to "be ashamed" of her natural looks.

"My mother desperately tried to tell me that they have my face character, don't be ashamed," she explained.

The British beauty also reflected on her teenage years, admitting she often tried to distance herself from character Hermione Granger, whom she played in the Harry Potter franchise.

Emma recently revealed she's taking a year away from acting

"I feel as though I spent a long time trying to pretend I was not like Hermione," she confessed. "And, of course, I was rather like Hermione. I've finally come to accept the fact."

While Emma is set to star in the live-action remake of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, playing the leading role of Belle, she recently revealed her plans to take a year out from the world of acting in order to focus on other projects, from her role as a UN Goodwill Ambassador to focusing on her successful book club.

"I'm taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really," she explained to Paper magazine. "My own personal development is one. I know that you read a book a day. My own personal task is to read a book a week, and also to read a book a month as part of my book club."

She added: "I'm doing a huge amount of reading and study just on my own. I almost thought about going and doing a year of gender studies, then I realised that I was learning so much by being on the ground and just speaking with people and doing my reading. That I was learning so much on my own. I actually wanted to keep on the path that I'm on. I'm reading a lot this year, and I want to do a lot of listening."
