Kim Kardashian had fans around the world coveting her edgy beauty look as she starred in husband Kanye West's music video for Wolves, with her slicked back hair and glossy make-up. Now, the reality TV star's make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic has revealed the unusual trick he used to achieve the striking high-shine finish.

Mario Dedivanovic revealed how he created Kim's make-up for the video

Sharing a behind-the-scenes snap on Instagram of Kim having her make-up done, Mario revealed that instead of using eyeshadow on her lids, he opted for a cream concealer instead.

"BTS @balmain Wolves campaign w/ @kimkardashian love this super glossy lid we did," he wrote in the caption accompanying the photo. "Hair @cesar4styles #MakeupByMario. To achieve a look like this on the eyes, I used a cream concealer in a darker shade on the lids (as a shadow) followed by the eye gloss."

The result was an eye-catching shimmering finish that worked perfectly for the black-and-white video, in which Kim can be seen rocking the dazzling Balmain gown she wore for the 2016 Met Gala.

The label's creative director Olivier Rousteing shared a series of stills from the video on his own Instagram, revealing that he had collaborated with Kanye on the project and dressed all the models. Kanye himself wore Balmain, following in Kim's footsteps and recycling the outfit he wore for the Met Gala back in May.

Directed by Steven Klein, the short clip also features a host of famous faces including Jourdan Dunn, Cindy Crawford and singer Sia, as well as Kim's younger sister Kylie Jenner.

It comes as no surprise that Kim turned to Mario to do her make-up for the project – he has been part of her glam squad for years, and is often credited for creating her iconic contoured look.

"Sculpting is always a part of my routine with Kim; it helps to define features, it's a diet for the face,"he told HELLO!. "Kim does not need it every day, but when you are being photographed as much as she is, it really helps. It's great in selfies and who doesn't want high and more-defined cheekbones, a slimmer face and a more defined jaw?
