Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan had some happy news to share this week – and naturally they did it via Facebook. "Priscilla and I have some exciting news: we're expecting a baby girl!" Mark posted to his 33 million followers.
The announcement was accompanied by a sweet picture of Priscilla debuting her baby bump with her proud husband and their dog beast. They signed off: "We're looking forward to welcoming her into the world and sharing more soon when she's ready to come out and meet everyone!"
Mark Zuckerburg and Priscilla Chan are expecting a daughter after suffering three miscarriages
Mark revealed in the entry that the couple’s baby joy comes after they suffered three heartbreaking miscarriages over the past few years, saying: “It’s a lonely experience.”
He added: "Most people don't discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you - as if you're defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own."
The couple, who wed in 2012, decided to be open about their baby losses and what they have gone through in the hope of helping others, he explained.
"We hope that sharing our experience will give more people the same hope we felt and will help more people feel comfortable sharing their stories,” wrote the 31-year-old, who also shared that Priscilla’s pregnancy was so far along now that the risk of losing the baby was very low.
According to Mark, it already seems clear that their little girl is very much her father’s daughter. “In our ultrasound, she even gave me a thumbs up ‘like’ with her hand, so I'm already convinced she takes after me,” he wrote.
The couple gave no details of when their baby is due to make an entrance.
