Congratulations to Chemmy Alcott and her husband Dougie Crawford, who are celebrating the arrival of their first child together, a baby boy. "Chemmy, Dougie and baby are all doing well and the new parents are completely in love!" a spokesperson for the four-time Olympian confirmed to HELLO! on Friday afternoon.
The couple's bundle of joy, Lochlan Arthur MacDonald Crawford, weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and arrived (very appropriately!) in the snow at 12.26pm on 13 January.
Chemmy and fellow alpine ski racer Dougie, who tied the knot in June 2014, announced her pregnancy in August 2016 in an exclusive interview with HELLO! magazine. The delighted couple later decided to find out the sex of their child at the 20 week scan – and the mummy-to-be couldn't help but share her excitement.
"I totally welled up as being the youngest of three with two older brothers, I was hoping secretly for a boy," she confessed in October. "Normally we love surprises but because of when I am due and the fact that Dougie will be away running our ski camps for two weeks before and a week after, discovering the sex of the baby was something we wanted to enjoy together."
The new arrival is unlikely to slow down 34-year-old Chemmy, who represented Team GB throughout a 20-year sporting career, and is Britain's most successful female alpine skier.
"I will be a better mother if I am following my passion, which is to be out there in the mountains," she told HELLO!. "I have been so lucky that so far – except from struggling to put my shoes on – I have been able to stay as active as ever."
She added: "I feel like the baby is already trying to prepare us for sleepless nights because all day whilst I am working he is serene and then at night he comes alive!"
