Charlotte Hawkins returned to the Good Morning Britain sofa on Thursday to proudly present her newborn baby daughter to her co-hosts and viewers at home. Charlotte, who first introduced her little tot to HELLO! magazine in an exclusive interview, couldn't help but beam as she showed off Ella Rose.

The first-time mum opened up about her new role of motherhood, admitting to presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard that her early morning starts from her day job hadn't prepared her.

"It's a whirlwind, it's like a mini tornado hits as soon as you have the baby," said Charlotte. "It's extremely full on, the first few weeks."

"It's starting to calm down now," the 39-year-old added. "But to begin with it's just crazy and nothing prepares you for it. I thought that because of the job that we do – getting up in the middle of the night, not getting that much sleep – I thought I would be quite used to that but it turns out no."

Adorable Ella, who was born in February, was as good as gold during her debut appearance on national TV, but Charlotte did laugh, saying: "She's got a good pair of lungs on her. When she decides to scream she will scream and she will let you know about it."

The gorgeous presenter looked radiant in a printed sleeveless dress and an absolute natural with her two-month-old daughter.

Charlotte's co-hosts Ben and Susanna, who both have children, were also given the chance to cuddle the newborn. Susanna painted a particularly sweet picture, kissing Ella Rose, who was dressed in a floral baby-gro, on her cheek.

"She's just thrown up on your shoulder," joked Ben. The presenter, who welcomed his youngest child in 2007, added: "It just takes a baby that's really calm like this to make you think of having one more go."

Charlotte and her husband Mark became proud parents on Sunday 8 February. The newsreader previously admitted to HELLO! magazine that she and Mark had been on the verge of pursuing IVF treatment when she became pregnant.

"It took a long while for it to sink in that I was pregnant because we'd been trying for quite some time – years, in fact," said Charlotte. "We'd got to the stage where we'd started to think, 'Is this ever going to happen for us?' We'd actually just gone through the paperwork to go down the IVF route as we thought it might be the only option left for us."
