Elisabetta Canalis has revealed that she is pregnant. The Italian beauty, who famously dated George Clooney for almost two years, thought of an imaginative way to share her baby news online.

Posting a photo of a pregnant Barbie doll on Instagram, Elisabetta made the announcement to her 757,000 followers.

The caption was signed off from herself and her husband Brian Perri – and Elisabetta even revealed the sex of her little one.

"I am so excited to share this moment with you guys...," she wrote. "My husband and I will have a little girl and I couldn't be happier. She will be the boss and we can' t wait to see her. Thanks for your love..... Eli and Brian."

The actress' pregnancy news is particularly joyful for the couple, who married in a romantic ceremony in Italy last September.

Elisabetta, 36, suffered a miscarriage in June, just a few months before she was set to walk down the aisle. In a message posted on WhoSay written in her native Italian, the model spoke of her pain and reached out to other women who had gone through the same experience.

"Unfortunately, life gives you… a reality that you do not expect," wrote Elisabetta. "That is very hard to accept, even if you think you are strong enough and prepared. You're never really ready to be told that there is no more beating (heartbeat) and that it had already stopped long ago."

"I just want to say to all those women who are going through it to stay strong," she added. "Life goes on and it is nobody's fault and nature acts in incomprehensible ways. We can only accept it."

Earlier this week Elisabetta was spotted out and about in Los Angeles, where she lives with her surgeon husband. The brunette stunner wore a loose-fitting red dress, perhaps trying to conceal the start of a growing baby bump.
