Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross have announced the name of their newborn daughter. "We are overjoyed about the birth of our precious baby girl Jagger Snow Ross," the couple proudly announced on their Instagram accounts at the weekend.Given that both 30-year-old Ashlee and Evan, 26, come from musical backgrounds, their choice of name might well have been inspired by Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger. In a recent interview Evan – son of The Supremes icon Diana Ross – promised that the name would be "unique", adding: "You guys will figure out the story behind it once we tell the name".

A source confirmed to E! News: "The couple had their minds set on this name for a long time. They wanted something fun and different."Little Jagger Snow is Ashlee's second child; she has a six-year-old son Bronx with her ex-husband, Fall Out boy rocker Pete Wentz.Ashlee and Evan tied the knot last August in a Bohemian-style ceremony on his mother Diana's Connecticut estate. In December they announced the happy news that they were expecting their first baby together, and confirmed in February the new arrival would be a baby girl.

The daughter arrived in the world in LA on 30 July. "Their whole family was around to support them," a source told E! News. "Evan was very emotional and loves Ashlee so much. He did not leave her side and wanted to go through this with her every step of the way. "He can't wait to be a dad. He would do anything for Ashlee and now this baby girl. Ashlee is doing great and can't wait to get home to be with her family."
