It was Benedict Cumberbatch's time to shine as he attended the launch of his new film Doctor Strange, but the actor was more than willing to share the spotlight with his gorgeous wife Sophie.

All eyes were on the handsome couple and in particular Sophie's growing baby bump.

The theatre director, 38, was making one of her first red-carpet appearances just days after her pregnancy news was revealed.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their second baby

Looking pretty in pink, Sophie had a healthy glow about her. She dressed her bump in an elegant, loose-fitting fuchsia dress that showed just the first signs of her rounded tummy.

Sophie and Benedict, who have a one-year-old son Christopher, were attending the screening of Doctor Strange at Westminster Abbey, London on Monday night.

In the Marvel flick, Benedict plays protagonist Dr Stephen Strange, a top neurosurgeon whose life is turned upside down after a car accident robs him of the use of his hands.

The couple have a one-year-old son Kit

Last week Benedict and Sophie told E! they were "absolutely thrilled" to be expecting a second baby. They welcomed their son Christopher, who they call Kit, in June 2015, four months after their Valentine's Day wedding.

The Sherlock star, 40, spoke about his experiences of fatherhood in an interview with Vanity Fair earlier this year.

"Having a baby – it's massive," he said. "And on a very unexpected level. Suddenly I understood my parents much more proudly than I ever had before."

He said that welcoming little Kit allowed him to better prepare for his role as Hamlet at London's Barbican Theatre. "I was expecting with Hamlet that it might be a hindrance to be a father, because it's all about being a son," he commented. "But it's the opposite. You understand much more about being a son, becoming a father."
