Fragrance marks a new image for Ms Aguilera

The platinum-blonde singer's new scent is a white floral mix of fruity mango and citrus top notes with a hint of freesia 

One of music's most powerful voices and now a new mother, too, Christina Aguilera has decided to play with her image to mark this eventful stage in her life, starting with her line of scent.

Inspire, from £19, is her second fragrance, a white floral mix of fruity mango and citrus top notes with a hint of freesia. It melts into a heart of tuberose, gardenia and rose and settling into a sensual base of orange flower, sandalwood and musk.

Christina's favourite ingredient is tuberose. "Wherever I go, I make sure I have the scent of tuberose in the room," she says. "It creates an extremely sexy and feminine scent, which is what I love."

The overall scent, however, marks a change in her tastes. "While I was pregnant with Max, I was thinking a lot about where I wanted to go with my next album and I have a clear vision of the new image I want," she says. "I have been very inspired by pop art and love the idea of modernising the Seventies."

As such, the ad campaign - directed by surrealist photographer David LaChapelle -goes for an energetic, fun and colourful feel, with lots of future-fantasy inspired imagery. It's perfect for the direction Christina is trying to take.

She describes the fragrance as: "Very feminine but also bold – it's the kind of fragrance that makes you want to banish your inhibitions. I want all women to feel confident enough to follow their own inspiration, as I have been able to. That's the key message of this fragrance."
