She may have been through the mill lately with her husband Ronnie's affair, but Jo Wood seems to be emerging from the situation if not exactly smelling of roses, then certainly sweetly scented with exotic essential oils.
Her daughter Leah has revealed she's expecting Jo's first grandchild, while Jo herself has announced she's stepping out with Trinny Woodall's estranged husband Johnny Elichaoff. And she's also launched the latest additions to her Jo Wood Organics beauty brand - two new certified organic eau de toilettes.
Amka, £36, which means ‘to wake’ in Swahili, is a fragrance full of energy, with a romantic heart of Iranian rose otto and Egyptian jasmine with bright, fresh top notes of neroli and bergamot. Green mandarin and sweet orange blossom add a fresh and vibrant layer above a soft and spicy base of cedarwood.
Usiku, £36, from the Swahili for ‘night’, is warm and sensual with a fresh, vibrant edge and an earthy, sophisticated feel that makes it suitable for both men and women. With top notes of rosemary and pine needle, it has a spicy hint of cardamom and hot ginger; a complex heart of coriander and clove; and an aromatic, woody base of Moroccan cedarwood, patchouli and vetiver. Vanilla produces a soft, powdery, sweet effect in the base notes of the fragrance.
The two scents also fragrance the rest of Jo's collection, which includes bath oil, body oil and candles and, in eau de toilette form, come in recyclable, etched glass bottles.
After years spent at home apparently "cooking, cleaning and listening to moaning", Jo says, "I feel free. It's now my time and I've loving it."
