The Tri-Aktiline Instant Deep Wrinkle Filler contains matte silicones that instantly fill in creases to provide a temporary veil

Now, we’re not saying you can turn back the clock or make lines disappear for good, but the past couple of years have seen a few excellent line fillers hit the market that are like a personal PhotoShop for the face – your own touch-up artist in your cosmetic bag that smooths the lines until they really do seem to fade away.

Of course, they work best on fine lines – especially around the eyes. But even on deep grooves, they seem to literally blur the lines – and that comes from an 80-year-old tester who never wears make-up, but was genuinely impressed by these new must-haves for the make-up bag – simply tap them with your finger into the lines over make-up.

These are our top three, all tested and all proving to do exactly what they say on the tin:

Tri-Aktiline Instant Deep Wrinkle Filler, £25.44, from Boots and
Matte silicones instantly fill in creases on skin’s surface to provide a temporary ‘veil’, while a humectant, avocado oil, cholesterol and shea butter hydrate skin to plump out lines. Optical diffusers help lines appear softer still.

Olay Regenerist 30 Second Wrinkle Filler, £24.50, from high-street outlets
The newest on the market, it uses a ‘fill-and-seal’ approach, with pentapeptides, vitamin E and pro-vitamin B5 working from within the line to give skin a plumped-up look and on the surface for a smoother appearance, too, while also sealing in moisture.

Marks & Spencer Formula Instant Fix Line Eraser, £9.50, from Marks & Spencer and
A waxy texture fills lines while light-diffusing microspheres make light reflect off the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
