Amy Adams revealed the worst beauty advice she ever received

The American Hustle star revealed that she was told by a facialist that she "needed to bleach" her skin, explaining that it was the worst beauty advice she had ever received.

"I was getting a facial, and a woman put something on me, and it started to burn," she told Allure. "I was like, 'What is this?' She said, 'Skin lightener.' I was like, 'Get this off immediately!'"

Describing her complexion as "reactive", Amy admitted that she tries to follow a consistent skincare routine in order to keep her skin healthy and radiant.

"When I'm working and wearing a lot of make-up, I use Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser because I have very reactive skin," she said. "But at home, I just use water."

The actress also shared her skincare routine

The Enchanted actress also revealed that one of her biggest beauty splurges is her moisturiser, La Mer – and that she was inspired by singer Jennifer Lopez who is also a big fan of the product.

"At first I was like, 'I can't use this! It's so expensive and fancy and J.Lo uses it!' But it has saved my face," she quipped.

Amy also opened up about her wedding to long-term love Darren Le Gallo – last year the couple caused a stir when it was revealed they had secretly tied the knot in May. The actress explained that her busy work schedule meant they kept postponing the date, until their five-year-old daughter Aviana convinced them to get organised.

"We were going to do it the summer that I got The Fighter, and then we were going to do it the following year. There was always something," she admitted. "We talked about it again, and Aviana really wanted us to."
