Ricky Martin has given fans a peek inside his Beverly Hills home, and it is beautiful to say the least. The Livin' La Vida Loca singer lives in the star-studded Los Angeles neighbourhood with his partner Jwan Josef and their nine-year-old twins, Tino and Matteo, but said they weren't originally planning on settling down there.

"We were considering living in London or New York City, but then we decided to rent in Los Angeles for a month, to get a feel for the vibe. L.A. totally caught us off guard—we loved it. By the end of the month, we knew we wanted to be here," Jwan told Architectural Digest.

After a few days of house-hunting, the couple settled on a 3,000-square-foot modernist home, which lies on a spacious 11,000-square-foot estate and dates back to the 1950s. "Even though the house had been greatly expanded over the years, we still wanted to respect its original vision - the clean lines, the openness, and the sense of calm," Ricky said.

The couple enlisted the help of designer Nate Berkus to makeover their new home, but said they didn't want to change too much. "We weren't interested in a completely decorated home with a specific look done to the last detail," Jwan explained. "We wanted to get the basics covered so it would be comfortable for us and the kids, but we left plenty of room for the house to grow and evolve in the years to come."

They also ensured they added some sentimental touches to the property, including a desk that Ricky has owned for over 20 years. "It was my first real piece of furniture, and it works perfectly here," Ricky told the magazine. "Jwan has impeccable taste, so I give him most of the credit for how good everything looks. My main concern was for comfort and practicality, and I think we’ve accomplished that."
