Michael Jackson to rent out Rod Stewart's home during O2 shows

11 MARCH 2009
While most performers would be holed up in one of London's five-star hotels, Michael Jackson can look forward to a more homely retreat when he begins his ten shows at the capital's O2 arena, after renting Rod Stewart's luxury Essex mansion.

For the duration of his stay the 50-year-old will have the use of rocker Rod's conveniently located pad. Set in a 180-acre estate, complete with a five-a-side football pitch, it lies just three-and-a-half miles outside greater London.

As well as sorting out his living situation, Michael has been turning his attention to the July concerts. And, in news sure to be music to his fans' ears, it has been revealed he's to release new material ahead of the gigs.

"There will be a new Michael Jackson single before the first date," confirmed concert promoter Randy Phillips, who also shared some of the music legend's plans for the show.

Michael, who has not performed a full-length concert since 1997, aims to deliver spectacular visual effects which will include a David Blaine-style illusion with him floating over the stage.
