After a difficult spell following the breakdown of her marriage last year, Shania Twain is slowly starting to re-emerge into the spotlight, much to the delight of her loyal fans.
And in the same week it was revealed she would be making an appearance as a guest judge on American Idol, Shania has made a short video to announce that her birthday this year will be marked by a special treat for her supporters.
Speaking publicly for the first time since her glamorous comeback appearance at the Country Music Awards in November, the Canadian singer has posted a clip on her website in which she reveals she will be unveiling the surprise on August 28 – her 44th birthday.
"Hi everyone, Shania here," opens the brunette beauty, seen sitting in the garden at her home in Switzerland, accompanied by two of her dogs.
"First to start I want to thank you for all the beautiful birthday wishes for Eja's birthday," she says in reference to her eight-year-old son.
"Secondly, if you haven’t already seen on my website, for August 28th on my birthday, I will be giving a small gift of thanks for all of your support over the last year."
"You've been really wonderful, thank you so much."
While many admirers will be hoping for a preview of a new album – it has been seven years since Shania last released new material – it appears the treat will be another video, but not of the musical variety.
According to a source, it will be a video travelogue of what the singer has been up to since breaking up with her husband Robert 'Mutt' Lange in May 2008.
"It's not new music, but it's a piece that Shania put together of what she's been doing the last year," reveals People. "It's definitely a totally new side of Shania that no-one's ever seen."
