Amy Winehouse back to her best with well-received performance at summer festival

What a difference a year makes. Twelve months after her last public performance in the UK, Amy Winehouse returned to the stage at the V Festival on Saturday looking healthy and happy to the delight of her many fans.

In stark contrast to her last set on British soil, coincidentally at the same festival, Amy was greeted by cheers as she came on stage as a special guest of British band, The Specials.

Despite going for a similar look, from her bee-hive right down to her monochrome top – the same one she wore last year - the 25-year-old's appearance was a far cry from the dishevelled figure she cut in 2008, before her extended stay in St Lucia.

The star's impromptu performance alongside the veteran ska-band, who introduced the Back To Black star as "our good friend Amy", was something of a "dream come true" for the London-born singer.

"While living in St Lucia, Amy missed the band's reunion tour and decided to head to V to catch her favorite artists," her spokesman revealed. "Meeting them backstage, they invited her to guest for them and made her dream come true."

That same day, Amy was also on stage with Pete Doherty, and while she did not sing with him, she did plant a kiss on her friend who dedicated a song to her.

Festival-goers at this year's event were treated to a line-up that included Lily Allen, who gave a shout out to the victorious England cricket team, Katy Perry, Natalie Imbruglia, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and The Killers.

The annual music gathering hit all the right notes for some celebrity mums, who took time away from their broods to let their hair down.

Billie Piper, who welcomed her first baby Winston back in October, was spotted enjoying the sunshine with some girl friends.

And Charlotte Church, who gave birth to her second baby Dexter in January, caught up with Myleene Klass, mum to two-year-old daughter Ava, at the festival.
