Andrew Lancel, the actor behind The Bill's Detective Inspector Neil Manson, seems to have made a habit of chasing complex roles, having also appeared as a detective constable in the 2003 mini-series Blue Dove.

Other TV outings from the Lancashire-born thesp include Queer As Folk, City Central and Cardiac Arrest. He made his big screen debut in 2003's The Face At The Window. 

His Early Life

Andrew was born in August 1970 in Rufford, Lancashire. He worked as a cabaret singer at his local theatre before later dipping his toes into the world of acting. Throughout the early 1990s, he starred in a plethora of films including the likes of Wide-Eyed and Legless featuring Julie Walters and Jim Broadbent.

Aside from acting, Andrew is also a talented singer. He has dazzled fans with his impressive vocals at several notable venues including the Sands in Blackpool and London's Royal Albert Hall. 

Beyond this, Andrew runs his own production company, and stars as a regular panellist on Channel 5's TV show, The Wright Stuff.

His Personal Life

Ex-Corrie star Andrew is happily married to dance teacher Louise Edge. The actor popped the question during a romantic trip to Paris, with Andrew getting down on one knee at the top of the Eiffel Tower on Bastille Day in 2002. 

The couple went on to tie the knot in 2005, before later going on to welcome two children: a son called Isaac and a daughter called Freya. He tends to keep his private life away from the spotlight.
