Though it is Prince Harry who is often cited as the Royal Family's thrill-seeker, elder brother Wills has shown that he is not far behind in the extreme sports stakes.

Currently on a month-long holiday in Africa, the 21-year-old Prince arrived unannounced at Uganda's Jinja Nile Resort, set for a day of adventure. And in a daring choice, Wills decided to take on a 140ft bungee jump over the River Nile, apparently without the knowledge of his father.

Prince William who was accompanied by seven people, including his Kenyan pal Jessica Craig opted for a tandem jump with his friend Guy Pelly, with the two young men strapping themselves together at the ankles before taking the daredevil drop. And it looks like Wills has caught the adrenaline bug resort manager Abuto Tom said that after the jump, the future king "couldn't get the grin off his face".

Later, the group headed back to their lodgings at the Eden Rock resort for a late night meal, before retiring to individual 10-a-night cabins complete with bamboo ceilings. The following morning, a two-day whitewater rafting trip was on the agenda.

Though St James's Palace would not comment on the private holiday, a senior courtier told the Daily Mail: "(Prince Charles) knows William is sensible and understands his son's enthusiasm for joining in with things. He knows William will never be content sitting on the sidelines.

"Don't forget, the Prince of Wales indulged in some pretty risky sports over the years."
