Charles speaks out in 2008 about the importance of the world's rainforests
Passionate environmentalist Prince Charles has dedicated this year to addressing what he describes as "one of the biggest crisis facing the planet" - the plight of the world's rainforests.
The Prince, who visited an Indonesian rainforest conservation project in November, is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech in Brazil next month about the threat to the Amazon. He hopes to focus the attention of world leaders on the issue in the run-up to the climate change summit in Copenhagen in November.
There has been speculation he may even join stars like Harrison Ford – who last year waxed his chest to highlight the problems of deforestation – in ads to help raise awareness of the problems.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cornwall was turning her attentions to another project close to the couple's hearts this week - supporting the use of British produce.
Camilla was treated to an afternoon tea of cupcakes and sandwiches courtesy of 15 teenage winners of the British Food Fortnight Cook For Life Challenge, which tasks young people with designing and cooking a menu using local ingredients.
