Princess Mary shares love of horses with Isabella and Christian

There was an introduction to the equestrian world in store for Princess Mary's little ones Isabella and Christian this week as the youngsters' mum took them to see a horse show in Copenhagen. As it turned out, though, the family ended up having as much fun romping together on the sidelines as watching the mounts on display.

Three-year-old Christian squealed with delight as his mum tumbled with him on the grass, while Isabella, who at two is starting to look more and more like her older brother, received a cuddle from Mary's long time Danish friend and riding partner Charlotte Velin, whose brother competes professionally as a rider.

Mary has loved riding ever since she was a child, and competed on her own pony Diana as a teenager growing up in Tasmania. And her joy in horses is clearly something she's keen to pass onto her and Crown Prince Frederik's children.

In recent years she's taken them along to equestrian events and Christian is expected to have riding lessons when he's old enough. The youngster received his own pony, called Flickflack, from the Danish parliament as a gift on his 2006 christening.
