The name of Denmark's newest member of the royal family was finally revealed at the weekend as Prince Joachim and Princess Marie's baby boy was christened Henrik Carl Joachim Alain on Sunday. In keeping with the tradition of the Danish monarchy the newborn's name had remained a secret until the baptism, meaning the announcement was greeted with plenty of excitement in his homeland. The ceremony, attended by more than 140 people, was broadcast live to the nation. First-time mum Marie and her husband Joachim - who is also dad to two young boys from his first marriage to Alexandra Countess of Frederiksborg - looked close to home for inspiration about what to call him. Henrik is in honour of his paternal grandfather, Queen Margrethe's French husband, while Alain is the name of Paris-born Marie's father. Among the guests at the ceremony - which took place in Mogeltonder church, South Jutland where the happy parents wed in May 2008 - was the prince's uncle, Crown Prince Frederik and and his wife Mary. The crown princess, herself a mum-of-two, was given the honour of being one of the child's godparents, along with two of Marie's brothers.Now grandparents to five after the arrival of the baby on May 4, the royal grandparents also attended along with Mary and Frederik's two children Christian and Isabella.
