He's clearly learnt a few tricks from his grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh.

Or at least it seemed that way when Prince William took his girlfriend Kate Middleton out on an incognito date.

Just days after Prince Philip and the Queen stunned theatre-goers by slipping quietly into a West End show, the heir to the throne caused a similar stir at a Chelsea restaurant.

He arrived with Kate for a booking made under the name Goldsmith. There had been no special requests for an out-of-the way corner, just a table for two at 8pm.

Though their table was apparently in the middle of the busy eatery, the couple made no request to be moved. And Wills' security people went to sit quietly at the bar.

Onlookers said they appeared just like any other couple out on a date, holding hands and leaning across the table to whisper to each other.

And when the bill came it was Kate who apparently paid, not her royal beau.

Goldsmith is said to be one of many of the aliases the couple use to make reservations. It's one Kate particularly likes as it's her mother Carole's maiden name.
